Mirrors

Mirrors by Steven Hayden include elements found in his fine furniture and are customizable to sizes greater than 18".  Each features combinations of hand-made ceramic tile or metal and find hardwoods.

Steven cuts and hand presses individual ceramic tiles with his own carved wood block press.  Next, he coats each tile with his signature copper-saturated glaze formulation.  And, finally, he fires the tile using the raku technique which yields a beautiful array of brilliant copper and metallic tones.  The mirror's reflected light enhances the glaze and highlights the texture in the clay

Metal elements can include forged, wrought, "flame painted," enameled, or etched steel, iron, and copper.

Steven creates wood elements from a variety of hardwoods to complement any decor.  Options range from classic frame designs to intricately carved forms.  (Some wood samples are available in the species shown below).

Shown at right is a trio of mirrors made of Brazilian cherry wood with "Circles" copper-glazed raku-fired tile.
